Battle of the Hydra

This artwork was created by award winning fantasy artist, Anthony Christou as the cover of the graphic novel for his popular fantasy series, Luminous Ages. It shows a major scene where our brave heroes and new friends are set up against a power Hydra, straight out of Greek Mythology. Fought for the entertainment of onlookers in a Roman Coliseum.

This scene was intended to help introduce major characters to readers. It also shows the strong influence that mythology from around the world has on the series. Middle eastern and Greek Mythology are among the first mythologies shown in the series, however other mythologies such as Japanese and Chinese start to also show up more as the series progresses.
