Kowloon - The Walled City

Kowloon Walled City was at one people a densely populated enclave in Hong Kong that for a long time was nearly completely self governing with high rates of crime. It was demolished in 1994 but has left a legacy with it’s influence on science fiction, especially genres like Cyberpunk. It’s influence can also be seen in fantasy and other settings.

This artwork was originally created by fantasy artist Anthony Christou for a Gnomon workshop contest on the theme of Kowloon Walled City, where it won a prize. It was also painted in Golden acrylic paints on canvas but has now sold.
