LABYRINTH OF ALITHIRIA
This artwork was used as a spread in award winning fantasy artist, Anthony Christou’s popular fantasy series, Luminous Ages.
The Labyrinth which acted as a prison for the fearsome Minotaur as an important myth in Cretan and Greek Mythology. The labyrinth has taken many forms over the course of Greek Mythology with stories of it being mostly focused around Crete. However one thing has always been agreed on, it is a terrifying maze made by a genius and nearly impossible to escape. Which is good because it traps a terrifying monster within.
When creating a labyrinth of his own for his fantasy series, Luminous Ages, Anthony wanted to capture this feeling of entering somewhere dangerous but also mysterious with promises for those clever and brave enough to solve the Minotaur’s labyrinth.
