Thalassa God of the Sea Monsters

This artwork by award winning, fantasy artist, Anthony Christou was created in order to further explore surrealism and it’s connection to mythology and fantasy.

This artwork was inspired by Thalassa who was the primeval spirit of the sea in Pre-Greek mythology, she was later replaced by gods like Oceanus and Poseidon but she retained her popularity even in later periods, including fables by Aesop. The sea in many myths was associated with creation and monsters. In this version I wanted to show magic but also the power of the ocean.
